The "Lebanese" - Time Travel between Beirut and Jerusalem" is the first book in a series dedicated to the history of the Sephardic communities around the world. This project focuses on the heritage of those lost, communities that never really came to the attention of the general public because they did not represent the mainstream of Jewish thought, philosophy, or discovery - in short, they were irrelevant in the eyes of the Zionist movement that created the state of Israel and relegated them to the background of history. We thought we should give the floor to correct the mistakes of the past and dedicate ourselves to research and personal memories and accounts of the hidden and forgotten history of these communities, many of whom were victims of the Holocaust. The Sephardic community, which takes its name from "Sepharad", the Hebrew name of Spain, has a rich history of almost ten centuries in the Iberian Peninsula and five centuries in the Ottoman Empire. Communities fleeing the Inquisition found refuge in the Ottoman Empire, which dominated the Mediterranean at the time, but also migrated to Holland, Africa and South America via the Caribbean islands, where they founded new states. Others, driven by a spirit of revenge, fought against the Spanish and Portuguese armadas, sailing on ships with names such as the “Jerusalem” and the “Queen Ester”, becoming famous Caribbean pirates who challenged the mighty Iberian kingdoms and those of the British Empire. This book represents the scope of this perspective. It is the personal account of a half-Sephardi, half-Ashkenazi Jew who becomes a mirror of the profound social and political changes that have taken place within the Jewish community in Lebanon, a country where Jews have lived for almost 2,000 years.
